Sara DeCoursey joined Stanford Sierra Youth & Families in 2016 as a Therapist in the FIT program. After becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Sara was promoted to Clinical Program Manager of the Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) and School Based Services (SBS) programs. In 2020, Sara became the Associate Director of the TBS, SBS, and El Dorado County programs, and in 2023, she was promoted to Director of these programs, as well as the newly developed Enhanced Care Management (ECM) program.

Sara is passionate about the work she does at SSYAF and believes that it’s a privilege to be invited into someone’s story. She loves that her job allows her to see and be a part of youth and families growing, healing, and overcoming challenges. Sara says, “our youth are resilient, and being able to support them in their journey is the reason I went into the mental health field.”

Sara received her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and is trained in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). In her free time, Sara enjoys watching baseball games and spending time outdoors with her husband and two sons.
